Many companies want to have an immediate, positive impact in their local neighborhoods—contributing to the impact that non-profit groups are already having on under-resourced communities and populations.  Unfortunately, good intentions can often be abandoned as they are faced with the difficulty of identifying these deserving causes, or as they run into barriers that prevent their employees from engaging in meaningful service work throughout the city.  This is where Chicago Cares excels.

Chicago Cares corporate programs activate thousands of volunteers annually and provide essential funding for the ongoing volunteer programs we create and lead all year long (more than 215 each month.) Corporate opportunities include:

  • The Business Shares program. Chicago Cares offers expertise in community service to corporate groups (ranging in size from 5 to 2,000+ volunteers) by creating customized, hands-on volunteer projects that complement teambuilding, leadership development and philanthropy initiatives. Our experienced staff is able to fully develop and coordinate all aspects of your group’s volunteer project to ensure maximum community impact. Your gift to Chicago Cares for a Business Shares program not only activates a great day of employee volunteer service but also provides essential funding for our year-round community projects.
  • The Annual Chicago Cares Serve-a-thon is the largest day of community service in Chicago. More than 6,000 Serve-a-thon volunteers paint, plant and build to transform 30+ schools into better learning environments for more than 30,000 children. Corporate partners realize marketing and promotional benefits and are also invited to recruit teams of employee, family, friend and vendor volunteers for the event.
  • Our Annual Celebration of Service mobilizes more than 3,000 volunteers to keep Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream alive. Teams of volunteers from corporate partners, community groups and Chicago Public School high schools come together to build community by completing projects that meet the needs of seniors, children and adults living with developmental disabilities. Sponsorship benefits include promotional exposure and employee participation in this one-of-a-kind event.

Chicago Cares builds stronger communities in Chicago through volunteerism. We work closely with community leaders to identify and research critical needs. We then develop targeted volunteer programs and mobilize tens of thousands of volunteers to address those needs. We inspire people to give of their time and energy, creating a real sense of community and shared responsibility. Over 20 years, Chicago Cares has activated 330,000 volunteers who have dedicated over 1.15 million hours of service to our city.

Companies and community partners coming together to create a better future for Chicago is a cornerstone of Chicago Cares.  For more information on Chicago Cares and the impact we have with our partners, please visit or email
