Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change
the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
—  Margaret Mead

Chicago Cares is built on thoughtful, committed people who are changing our city for the better every day. The annual Star Awards Gala is an opportunity to express our gratitude to the volunteers, partners, and supporters who are making an extraordinary impact in Chicago through volunteer service. Anyone who has served with us as a volunteer, leader or partner is welcome to attend this special evening of food, drinks and fun. One of the ways we show our appreciation is by honoring the volunteers, partners, leaders and teams who are inspiring others, by recognizing them with a Star Award.

We are currently accepting nominations for Volunteer Star, Leader Star, and Leader Team Star. A Volunteer Star can be any Chicago Cares volunteer who has served at our ongoing programs or service events. A Leader Star may be any trained Chicago Cares leader who has led at one of our ongoing programs or service events (e.g., Team Coordinator, Project Site Manager, and/or Primary Project Site Manager). Finally, a Leader Team Star consists of any group of two or more leaders who have led together at one of our ongoing programs or service events.

If you have been inspired by a volunteer, team coordinator, or project site manager who is making change happen in his or her community, nominate that person for a Star Award and help us share their story. The deadline to submit nominations is Monday, August 29.

This year’s Star Awards Gala will take place on Monday, November 28 at The Four Seasons, Chicago. We’ll be sending out RSVP information soon, but we hope that you will mark your calendar and Save the Date to join us at this year’s Star Awards Gala!
