Here at Chicago Cares, we’ve got a lot to be thankful for.

It’s true, our work often forces us into the harsh realities of poverty, homelessness, loneliness and neglect that countless Chicagoans must face each and every day. We’ve seen the staggering statistics, we know the heartbreaking stories. However, in what can seem like an unending battle to try to meet the critical needs of every citizen, we have a secret weapon. You.

At Chicago Cares we know the impact that is felt when thousands of volunteers commit one day to embrace service. We’ve seen the difference a corporation can make when they build a relationship with a local school. We’ve experienced the joy of a student who has learned how to read or an adult who has completed their GED because someone they didn’t even know committed to spend time helping them prepare. We’ve shared wonderful stories with seniors who were once isolated from a sense of community and we’ve cheered on veterans as they learned new skills while competing in Paralympic Games. We’ve pulled weeds in community gardens, making room for fruits and vegetables that will feed healthy meals to those who wouldn’t be able to afford them otherwise.

At Chicago Cares we are thankful that every day we see our city becoming a better place because you have chosen to give your time, your money and your heart to the things that we care about. None of this could have happened without you, our volunteers.

For your partnership, we are forever grateful. For a greater Chicago, we are forever hopeful.

Thank you.
